game overview
The game is divided into levels containing five (5) sections and a final battle. The purpose of each section is moving towards the exit, for which the player must overcome obstacles agilely and interact with various objects like trampolines, moving platforms, levers, etc. The key mechanic of the game is to go back in time after making certain movements with the character. To go back to the beginning of the game, the player creates a new copy of himself that can see the original character repeating every move. The player must cooperate with their different copies to complete each section.
The game starts in Doctor Hoobernstein’s time lab. The lab is built on a giant complex of zeppelins where there is a different zeppelin for every experiment the Doc is working on. The story begins when the Doc is testing his new time machine. But something goes wrong and black holes appear all over the complex. As a result of the accident, his assistant turns into a giant rat and it is the Doctor’s duty to find spare pieces in each of his labs and repair the great time machine. To assist him on his quest, the doctor uses the Tempus X7, a portable time machine that can manipulate time in short intervals.
Its mechanics are similar to Project Temporality. Basically, the player tries to solve puzzles that usually require multiple people by time-traveling and cooperating with his past self.
The last build was made to participate in Latam Game Idol -a game contest for Latin-American-. Although we were the team with the least members and resources, we managed to get the Best Game Design award. Due to contest requirements, the game was originally designed for mobile platforms.
Time Lab Disaster (TLD) is my first “real” game. I designed the gameplay, developed UI elements, modeled and animated the 3D characters and some elements for the economy and monetization of the game once published. It started as a school project with a couple of friends, and then we turned it into a complete demo for mobile.
